WHY CHOOSE SHILOH COMMUNITY SCHOOL?
Goals for Growth
While you don't see a generation with a strong work ethic or firm Biblical foundation in our society today, we uphold a commitment to mold our students into responsible, Christ-saturated future members of their communities. Through academics, hands-on job training, internships and college courses offered at the high school level, we will teach our students tools to carry with them throughout life. From grades 9-10, our students will experience trade/skill training. Whether it's customer service skills, carpentry, cake decorating, dog grooming, or auto mechanics, we will instill the importance of jobs and careers. In grades 11-12, in addition to attendance of their core classes at Shiloh Community, they will have an internship and/or be enrolled in college courses if they chose a collegiate pathway. Whatever their choice at the end of their time spent at SCS, our 2029 graduates will be well equipped with knowledge for the workplace and for successful entrance into adult citizenship.
Tight Knit Community Feel
Due to our small class sizes, we are able to create meaningful, influential relationships with our students. Our classrooms are more like family and we're continually engaged in conversations that drive us deeper into Christ. Our teachers are able to build connections and see the whole child, in order to teach them how they learn best. Our teachers also treat their students like their own children. The students at Shiloh Community learn to deal with conflict Biblically, therefore strengthening their relationships and establishing solid friendships. Your child isn't just a number at Shiloh Community School, instead a child we are pointing towards the Kingdom of God and doing life with.
Learning Outside the Classroom
We believe that learning can happen anywhere, but when we leave the four walls of a classroom, that is where the spark of learning has the ability to GROW. Each class takes 5-6 field trips a year. We'll visit musicals, farms, factories, hiking trails, special events, museums, and much more just to enhance your child's learning experience and broaden their scope of the creation that God has gifted us with for the benefit of their knowledge.
Hands-On Learning
We believe there is nothing new under the sun, so our simple approach to learning is nothing new either. Giving children materials to put their hands on to solidify concepts, build understanding, and stimulates other areas of the brain that a pencil and paper can't. It builds creative thinking skills, increases retention, and enhances them to experiment or explore problem-solving in a healthy way. At Shiloh Community School, every child will have access to hands-on resources in every classroom.
Biblical Worldview Teaching
If you're reading about Shiloh Community School, it's obvious that we are a Christian school, but we are more than that. We live and die by the Word of God and it's the lens by which we teach our students. The one, true, living Bible is the heartbeat of why we get up everyday and pour into these little ones. Developing their hearts and minds for here and eternity, through education, is such a gift. Even further, we are able to show each child how God is in each subject. Whether it is a math formula or how God redeemed an era in history or how creating a well-written paper with rich verbs, adjectives and adverbs can glorify God greatly. The ebb and flow of our days are centered around pointing children to the Gospel and how we can recognize the hand of God in everyday moments, especially in their educational experiences.
Music Appreciation
At Shiloh Community School, music is valued as much as math or English. Our students learn how to play instruments, read music, participate in a drama/play and vocally perform. They will perform in front of their friends and families at least twice a school year. Click the button below to watch a highlight reel of our Christmas Program.
Art Appreciation
Whether it's paint, clay, plaster, markers, colored pencils or any other medium, our children will learn various forms of art by applying the concepts they learn in class to express themselves. Several classes go into producing projects that are process pieces that they will display for their families at our art show twice a school year. Art has been proven to increase a child's engagement in other areas of learning and work different areas of their brain. What an incredible opportunity to learn about history’s most famous artists and connect those dots throughout other areas of learning.
Individualized Learning
We care more about the students we're educating rather than the institution of education. It's evident that you're considering alternative options for your child's education and we are certainly not against public school, online learning, or homeschool. However, we have re-written how we wanted our own children to experience education and created Shiloh Community School. It's a private, Christian school for families who value education, in all forms and want their student's to experience learning in various ways. We accommodate all learning personalities, in the sense that is elevating each child's strengths, while pushing them in the areas where they are weak too. While we aren't able to meet certain needs of children with disabilities, we can discuss a personalized learning plan for your child with you if Shiloh Community is an option you're considering.
